Applying for a Library Card

To apply for a library card, visit us at the library and fill out an application at the front desk. Please bring a form of valid identification and proof of residence. A library card offers to you a variety of benefits including:

  1. Check out books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines, games,CDs, and State Park passes (while supplies last).
  2. Reserve materials and request new ones to be added to the library.
  3. Access to Libby, Hoopla, and other digital resources.
  4. Borrow Chromebooks and Hot Spots.

You may also apply online for a temporary card using the application below provided that you meet the following:

  1. All ages are eligible for a library card, but minors need a parent or guardian to bring in ID and fill out the application. The child must also be present when issuing the library card.
  2. Temporary cards are available only to residents of Loomis and its surrounding communities in Placer County. Residents outside of Placer County are eligible for a library card; however, you must apply in person.
  3. Library card applicants must be residents of California.

A full library card application and verification of address must be submitted to convert a temporary card to a permanent card.

Upon submitting the application, we will contact you within 3-5 business days by email to verify that we received and processed your application.

•I understand the library provides a broad range of materials, in print, in other formats, as well as through the Internet, some of which may not be suitable for minors.
 
• I understand that Library policy permits children access to all resources and materials within the library. All library cardholders are granted user confidentiality under the California Public Records Act (Government Code 6267) which prohibits the release of circulation records of library users.

•I accept responsibility for the selections I make for myself and selections made by my children.  

• I agree to obey the rules and regulations of the Loomis Library and to be responsible for all materials borrowed and for all charges incurred for any overdue, lost, or damaged materials borrowed with this card.

• Most materials check out for 21 days. Items not returned within 30 days are considered 'lost' and a fine will be placed upon the account. Fines over $10 will suspend the account and further items cannot be checked out until the fine is resolved.

• I agree to notify the library of changes in address or email address, telephone number, and name, or if this card is lost or stolen.

•I agree to any other policies set by the library in its Policies Manual which is subject to change. Copies of this manual may be obtained online via the website or at the library.
