Applying for a Library Card
To apply for a library card, visit us at the library and fill out an application at the front desk. Please bring a form of valid identification and proof of residence. A library card offers to you a variety of benefits including:
- Check out books, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines, games,CDs, and State Park passes (while supplies last).
- Reserve materials and request new ones to be added to the library.
- Login to public computers.
- Participate in library programs.
- Access to Libby, Hoopla, and other digital resources.
- Borrow Chromebooks and Hot Spots.
Temporary Online Library Card Application
You may also apply online for a temporary card provided that you meet the following:
- All ages are eligible for a library card, but minors need a parent or guardian to bring in ID and fill out the application. The child must also be present when issuing the library card.
- Temporary cards are available only to residents of Loomis and its surrounding communities in Placer County.
- Residents outside of Placer County are eligible for a library card; however, you must apply in person.
- Library card applicants must be residents of California.
A full library card application and verification of address must be submitted to convert a temporary card to a permanent card.
Upon submitting the application, we will contact you within 3-5 business days to verify the temporary account.
